Thank you for sharing that. I know plenty of these Angry White Men, w/a few exceptions the descriptions could be me
Yep, I hope that Hillary gets the nomination and then gets thoroughly trounced. We’ll still have to deal w/her in the Senate as you know she won’t resign until she’s elected or declared incompetent.

I want to vote for the Angry White Man!
In all seriousness, I’m considering writing in someone when we finally have our primary on April 22. Our primary means nothing; it’s so late.

Even though we aren’t American, boy, My Dh sure fits the description of the Angry White Man!
I find it kinda funny that in the US people get really passionate about politics, every body has an opinion and it’s generally a rather zealous one, yet so few take the time to vote. Here, we seem to have a country full of the politically apathetic who HAVE to vote, and often vote for Donald Duck.
All I know is that I probably wouldn’t vote for Hillary. Not after watching the Australian Parlimentary Question time and seeing our female Deputy Prime Minister in action. Unfortunately I think a lot of women in politics lose something of their gender in the fight to be taken seriously. They become Quasi men. I don’t find it appealing in any sense.

You got a good man there, Bekki.
You HAVE to vote in Australia?
How does that work?
You’re right about many people here being passionate, but you’d be dumbfounded at what counts for “well informed.” So many people support the candidate who makes them feel good, but can’t name a single thing that person has accomplished in public or private life that qualifies him to be President.

Yep, voting is mandatory in Australia. If you don’t vote, you are fined and sometimes jailed. That’s why I laugh at the notion that Australia is a “democracy”. Um, no we aren’t. But then there are a lot of things about Australia that many people don’t know. We donot have freedom of speech in this country. It is not written into our constitution. The very fact that NOT voting (unless you are a Jehovas Witness, they are exempt because it goes against their religion) incurs a penalty says, this is not truly democratic.
If you are sick, or due to give birth, you must apply for an absentee vote or postal vote, same with those out of the country, (except for soldiers and other government positions, they are exempt but they must do the paper work)
I know what you mean about “informed”. I am still reelign from how stupid this country was to elect Mr.Rudd. For many reasons. I liked John Howard, not because I agreed with all his policies. I liked him for his character. For the very fact that he didn’t take the popular option when making decisions. He has a backbone. He knew that running the country well would mean making a lot of people unhappy. Mr.Rudd seems to be all about trying to appease every minority group we have. He just apologised to the Aborigines for the “stolen generation”. (My great grandmother was one of these children) And you know what, now we have reservations full of aboriginal children being abused, molested and raped because we’re too scared to remove their children from harms way. Mr.Rudd’s apology has now open a can of worms, there are many seeking monetary compensation now. Where is that money going to come from? it makes me so mad. At least Howard knew this.
This new PM of ours is weak. (His only saving grace is that he is a man of faith) He will send our country crashing into a recession. he will not fix anything he said he will. He can’t. And the policies he has put in place, weren’t his original policies. They were Howard Government policy. People are just stupid.

Thank you for the Australia lesson, Bekkie. I had no idea that your elections are set up that way.
There are quite a few Americans who were sorry to see John Howard lose the election. From what I saw, he was a good man who knew that the right thing to do is not often the popular thing to do.
At the moment the three front runners in our election are: a man from the liberal wing of a supposedly conservative party; and two very liberal candidates who, 40 years ago, any American would’ve recognized as socialists.
It’s not looking good.

I know. It’s sad for the Republican party….where are all the conservative, truly conservative candidates?
I wish we had a system more like yours. I mean I don’t care about the madatory voting part….it’s how we only have two options. We don’t get to choose candidates. When our election votes are counted, regaurdless of who we voted for, the votes go to either the liberal party, or the labor party. We have several other parties. (There’s the greens, the democrats, the christian democrats, one nation, Fred Niles Christain group, Family First, the Gun party, The fishing party, etc)
What I would like to see is an election of the people for who we would like to see leading the liberal, and labor parties. I must admit, Howard isn’t too popular in Australia. He has won his elections mostly because the Labor Party has not had a decent leader. People would rather have Satan himself running this country than vote for the likes of Kim Beazley or Mark Latham. (Two former labor party leaders)
Rudd won because he pandered to every minority group and bleeding heart in the country. And honestly, it probably had a lot to do with our Industrial Relations Laws that Howard brought in. Nobody really understood them. And that created fear.
But still, It would have been nice to have other options. I hope Brendan Neilson wins the next election.
As for your election…I think you’re all gonna be in the same boat as us….a sinking one!

This once great country has finally come to the place where a white male is the only person who can’t get a government grant to start a business, who does’nt have special laws protecting his job on the basis of race or gender, but still they give more than they take. Proud to be an angry white male
